Rotary Challenge
LLANIDLOES Rotary Club went head to head against Aberystwyth Rotary Club at their last meeting for their annual indoor sports social evening. The night, which involved 13 games, was held locally at the Blue Bell Inn, Llangurig, where the teams enjoyed a meal before get-ting down to business. With just 15 minutes to go the teams were drawing 6-6, tension mounted as Aber potted the last black ball to take the match 7-6. Llanidloes president John Cradduck, addressed the gathering, congratulating Aberystwyth on their close win and promising revenge next year. The Llanidloes club are also proud to announce that Sarah Davies of Llanidloes has been chosen as this year’s RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) student to attend Arthog Outdoor Education Centre. Sarah originally applied to attend last year, but unfortunately at 15 was too young. RYLA focuses on teaching students both leadership and effective teamwork with the participants being coached by a highly competent team led by Chris Bushnell. The course fulfils the require-ments for the residential part of the gold Duke of Edinburgh awards and is recognised by the UK Skills Council through their National Training Awards.
