THE latest community news from Llanidloes
Rotary Club
THE club enjoyed an informative presentation on the recovery of young people suffering from mental illness at their last meeting.
Rekindle was formed in 1998 by a group of parents with family members suffering from severe mental illness.
There was little help and support back then and the charity was initially set up by the generosity of friends and family.
Originally the charity offered support to both the young and old, however channelled their focus to the young in 2013. This new project was named Small Steps and concentrated on 16-25 year olds from Montgomeryshire.
Project co-ordinator Diane Williams highlighted that early intervention was the key and that a rescue service was delivered through the Small Steps project.
Diane explained that the objective is to provide a listening ear with no time limit, coupled with practical help.
Rekindle – Small Steps is based in Newtown, but is open to any young person from Montgomeryshire suffering from mental illness.
Anyone interested in finding out more can pop in for a chat with Diane and her team or visit www.smallsteps.wales
