Royal British Legion
THE Ladies of the Royal British Legion would like to say thank you to everyone who helped them arrange the Remembrance Sunday parade and service.
Also a big thank you to all who helped on the day.
It was so nice to see the youngsters of Llanidloes marching in what was one of the largest parades in many a year. Special thanks goes to Rev Linda Cowan for taking the service and for all the work she did on the order of services leaflets; Angela Morgan and Sarah Davies for the readings in church; Francis Williams and Kayleigh Jones for laying the wreath for the RBL; Chris Powers for reciting the exhortation; Stephen Evans, Ian Davies and Eneurin Jones and the police for traffic control; the Army Cadet force parade Marshall, Gwen Jones and Zac Evans was excellent with the last post; Charter Market for their assistance the evening before, and all the organisations who turned out to parade and lay wreaths.
ShelterBox
LLANIDLOES Rotary Club welcomed Richard Pearson and Marie Sach to their last meeting.
The couple recently moved to the area and quickly made contact with their local Rotary Club.
Richard has been a volunteer with the charity ShelterBox for the last 12 months with his wife Marie being an active member of the charity’s response team since 2012.
ShelterBox is a charity that responds to disasters and conflict worldwide to provide shelter to people in distress.
Rotary provides financial support to this fantastic charity but more importantly provides local knowledge and contacts to the boots on the ground when disaster strikes.
Marie has been involved in five recent tours as an immediate responder.
The charity has recently responded to 24 events in 20 different countries with Rotary being instrumental in 90 per cent of all operations.
Llanidloes Rotary Club have donated three ShelterBox’s in 2017 and were thrilled to meet someone who has been on the front line delivering the aid the club has provided.
Richard and Marie were thanked on behalf of the club by Rotarian Tony Stephens for their interesting presentation.
China Street Chapel
A CHRISTMAS carol service is taking place there on Thursday, 21 December, at 7pm. Led by Bryn Davies and Hefin Bennett, it will contain items from local artists including Trannon Valley Voices, Llanidloes High School, Ysgol Gynradd Llanidloes as well as congregational carols. No tickets required and all welcome.
Donations on the night in aid of 2018 Royal Welsh Montgomeryshire Feature County.
On Christmas Eve at 10am, Cyfarfod Nadolig at Heol China.
Longbridge Street Chapel
ON Christmas Eve at 11.15pm there will be a CYTUN Midnight Communion Service.
Llanidloes Baptist Church
ON Christmas Eve at 10.30am is a Christmas Service and at 6pm an evening service. On Christmas Day there will be a Baptist Church Christmas service.
Trinity Chapel
ON Christmas Eve at 10.45am there will be a Quaker Meeting in the Trinity School Room. At 11am in the Trinity Chapel there will be carols and readings.
CYTUN
ON Friday, 22 December, in the Co-Op there will be CYTUN Carol Singing.
Catholic Church, Penygreen Road
ON Saturday, 23 December, at 4pm there will be a mass.
On Christmas Eve there will be carols at 7.30pm then a mass at 8pm.
St Idloes Church
ON Christmas Eve at 5pm there will be a Crib Service for the family.
On Christmas Day at 10am, CYTUN will be holding a United Christmas Morning Communion Service at St Idloes.
