FOR the first meeting of February, the guest speakers were Emma Goldsmith and Tarek Robertson, who both work for the mental health charity MIND in Aberystwyth.

One in four of us will experience a mental health problem at some point. They have a centre in the Cambria in Aberystwyth where people can call in and can obtain help and support.

WI president Hazel Rimmer thanked them for coming along to explain the work that they do in Ceredigion.

The raffle was won by Judy Lile.

The following week the guest speaker was Dee Matthews from Borth. She is a tattoo artist and she gave a history of tattooing over the centuries around the world. She passed around photographs and items to do with tattooing.

She had also brought along what she uses today. She was a very entertaining speaker who has had a very interesting life having been a VSO and an airline pilot.

Barbara Auty thanked her for a very interesting evening.

The competition for the evening was to design a tattoo and was won by Sheila Jarvis, second Pat McKnight, third Betty Wakelin.

On 20 February several members went on an afternoon visit to Tynberllan farm, Llanilar on the kind invitation of Mr and Mrs Hugh Tudor to see the lambing in progress. It was a very enjoyable experience.

‘My childhood’ was the subject for the evening on 27 February and several members recollected their memories of childhood.

The competition for the evening was for a memento from childhood and several talked about the item they had brought along, It was an enjoyable evening for everyone.

The competition was won by Betty Wakelin – Teddy Edward, second was Cynthia Wainwright, and third was Jane Hancock.
