THE latest community news from Llanilar

WI

AT the beginning of July, members paid a visit to the new home of former member, Cynthia Whiting, who moved from Llanilar a little while ago. They had a most enjoyable and relaxing afternoon, chatting over tea in the garden of Cynthia and her husband Derek, being shown around their new home, and hearing about some of their activities, past and present. Judy Lile thanked our hosts for making us feel so welcome. Cynthia very kindly sent photos of the occasion to all who had been present.

The following week, a group went 10-pin bowling at the top of Constitution Hill. Carol Evans gained the highest score. This was followed by refreshments in the café.

Llanilar WI entered two teams, each of four members, in the County Federation’s Treasure Hunt which started from Borth Golf Club and finished at a café in Borth. Fifteen teams in total took part and, although neither of Llanilar’s teams won, they gained high scores, and all enjoyed the afternoon.

At the end of July, a group of members thoroughly enjoyed a visit to Bwlch y Geuffordd garden, near Bronant. Despite the inclement weather earlier in the day, the sun shone on the visit. They were warmly greeted by the owners, Jim and Gay Acres, before walking around the garden admiring the plants and the lake, and marvelling at the work which the owners have put into making it a beautiful place to visit. They then relaxed over tea and cake, and were offered some water lilies and other aquatic plants for Llanilar Millennium Lake, which Margaret Peel and Eirlys Jones later planted in the lake. Members also bought plants for their own gardens. Margaret Peel gave the vote of thanks.
