THE first meeting of 2018 was a Knit and Natter evening.

It was an opportunity to catch up with members news over Christmas and New Year.

Also, under the guidance of Judy Lile they discussed the resolutions that had been shortlisted to be discussed at the NFWI AGM later in the year.

The resolutions included oral hygiene, genital mutilation, awareness of modern slavery and mental health.

The majority of those present chose mental health where it is important to talk about it and oral hygiene – a healthier mouth, healthier body.

They now await the result of the national vote to see what resolution will be discussed at the AGM.

The following week, several members went to see the Cinderella Pantomime in the Arts Centre in Aberystwyth. It was a very enjoyable evening.

At the meeting on 17 January, Dr Rod Turner, the husband of one member, came to talk and showed pictures of their visit to Japan last year. Hazel Rimmer thanked Rod for coming along.

The raffle was won by Jill Turner and Betty Wakelin won the competition of a picture of somewhere in Japan.

An enjoyable evening was spent on 24 January when they played whist.

The result was: 1st lady joint winners Carol Evans and Eirlys Jones and 1st gent was Janet Parry.

The booby prize was won by Hazel Rimmer and Maureen Edwards.

For the last meeting of the month, the guest speaker was member Althea Tyndale.

She arrived with a rucksack on her back and carried a bag of food that she had taken with her on a trip she undertook last August and gave a talk about her journey.

Cynthia Wainwright thanked Althea for sharing her journey.
