Community council

LLANRHYSTUD Community Council met on 4 September to discuss the correspondence and matters raised by the community.

In matters arising replies had been received from Natural Resources Wales and Ceredigion Technical Services. Natural Resources Wales replied that it was their responsibility to clear debris if it caused a flooding risk, but it was the landowners’ responsibility to cut decayed or overhanging trees.

Ceredigion Technical Services said that when they did their next speed limit review on country roads in 2020 it was unlikely a 20mph speed limit would be imposed on the B433.

The data from Vehicle Activated Sign on the approaches to the village shows that the mean speed limit over 24 hours is below 30mph and that very few travel above 30mph during the period 8am to 9am. In response to this reply the Go Safe Partnership has been asked if they will monitor the speed of motorists approaching the ford and also, the council would like to guage what interest there is in inviting a representative from Ceredigion County Council to a public meeting to discuss the issues of speed on the B4337 and a safe route to school. Grant Thornton, on behalf of the Welsh Audit Office, has completed the audit and a notice of completion can be found on the village noticeboard, the auditors gave Llanhystud Community Council an unqualified report.

The reply to the consultation on removal of BT payphones was to retain the payphone in Llanrhystud.

There was no objection to the planning application A190451 at Manaros, Llanrhystud.

A donation of £100 was made in response to the joint appeal from Llanddeiniol YFC and Llanddeiniol Community Association towards the staging a community bonfire.

The points raised about the coastal path and the memorial hall in an email received from a member of the community were discussed and action was taken to contact Ceredigion County Council to ask if the coastal path between Llanrhystud and Llanon could be made more wheelchair friendly and the Memorial Hall Committee.

Ceredigion County Council were also contacted to report the unlit street lamps outside the old schoolhouse in Llanddeiniol and on Candor Villa. The next meeting will be held on 2 October at 7.30pm in the memorial hall.
