ON 1 October, members met to celebrate Harvest with a lunch.
Everyone brought a plate or two of very good food and all sat down to a two-course meal with tea or coffee.
Delyth, the president, welcomed everyone especially a new member.
The speaker was Delyth Morris Jones from Ponterwyd, who gave a very interesting talk on nursing in the 1930s.
Her mother had gone to London to work in a dairy, but it wasn’t for her. So she joined a hospital and became a nurse, getting all the qualifications including midwifery.
After some years she returned to Devil’s Bridge to become the district nurse for about five areas.
Delyth showed her working instruments. Delyth was thanked by Maureen Howells.
The raffles were won by Delyth, Pam and Davina and the competition for the best table decoration was: 1st Pam Maddox, 2nd Delyth Jenkins and 3rd Maureen Howells.
