CAMAD
COMMUNITY Action Machynlleth & District is proud to receive the Powys Volunteer Award for an Organisation in the health and Wellbeing Category.
The ceremony was hosted by PAVO and held in the Strand Hall in Builth Wells. It was attended by Linda Hayward, CAMAD’s manager, Gordon Hughes, secretary and founder member, and volunteers Elaine Moore, who has been with the charity for 12 years and Paddy McKillop Linda said: “I was amazed when our foot care volunteer Angela Edwards told me she had nominated CAMAD for an award, and even more flabbergasted when we won.
“There were so many deserving organisations there it took a while to sink in at first.
“In July CAMAD celebrates its 20th year supporting the residents of Machynlleth and the Dyfi valley, so this award is a great thank you to all who have helped us to provide our services over that time.”
Civic Society AGM
MACHYNLLETH and District Civic Society will be holding its annual general meeting at the Tabernacle, Heol Penrallt, at 7pm.
Chair Margaret Vince said: “We are looking forward to a good attendance as we need to discuss some important matters.”
All members of the society are entitled to attend.
Bowls
MAGLONA, previously without a win in their first three Montgomeryshire County League Division Two games, reversed their fortunes when they beat Abermule by four shots on Llynlloedd green on Thursday, 7 June. Maglona gained five points to the visitors two.
Meanwhile, despite winning on three of four rinks, Machynlleth (three points) tasted their first defeat of the season in the first division of the county league, going down by two shots at Newtown (four points).
Machynlleth ladies also lost, on 5 June, to the perennial Montgomeryshire Ladies’ County League champions, Berriew. The yet-to-lose- champions travelled home with the maximum nine league points.
Council meeting
THE next ordinary monthly meeting of Machynlleth Town Council will be held at Plas Machynlleth on Monday, 25 June, at 6.30pm.
Formal notice of the meeting, including agenda, will be affixed to the council’s notice boards in front of the town library and in the Plas foyer. Members of the public and press are welcome to attend.
Planning
IN the period 16 May to 7 June, under delegated powers, county planners approved an application, including Listed Building Consent under separate application, for the demolition of the existing garage and erection of a carport, conversion of the existing storage room to a utility room, internal alterations and replacement of windows and roof covering at Pen-y-bont, Cemmaes Road.
Mach Maethlon
MACH’ Maethlon welcomed Gail from Caffi Alys and Angharad from ‘Popty’ as the chefs of the day at the Bowling Club on Thursday, 14 June.
This bilingual session saw Gail and Angharad demonstrate the art of making Glamorgan Sausages to an appreciative audience.
