THE latest community news from Machynlleth
Bowls news
CONTINUING their worst season for many a year, Machynlleth crashed to their fourth straight defeat at Llanidloes by 23 shots on Thursday, August 2, and gained just 0.5 of a point to Llanidloes’ 6.5 points.
Picking up a miserly 3.5 points from a possible 28, the Montgomeryshire County League Division One champions have tumbled down the table after being the division’s one-time leaders.
Taking one point to the visitors six, Maglona fared little better in division two as they slumped to defeat against high-flyers Llanfair Caereinion.
Machynlleth ladies also suffered a 24-shot reversal at home to Carno ladies who, in securing all nine of the Montgomeryshire County Ladies’ League points, will now challenge champions Berriew ladies for this season’s top county honours, while the Llynlloedd ladies are assured of third place.
