Rail AGM

THE Shrewsbury – Aberystwyth Rail Passengers’ Association (SARPA) AGM will be held on Saturday, 6 October at 2.15pm at the White Lion Hotel.

The association is in the process of arranging for the presence of an officer from the rail industry to give a talk about the new Wales and Borders franchise, followed by a question and answer session.

Members always welcome non-members to their meetings.

It is worth noting that SARPA will lobby for better rail services, act as a watchdog to ensure the line’s future, meet in public once a month, and all members will receive SARPA’s quarterly newsletter free of charge and members with access to email can be included in the electronic network if they so desire.

Cooking workshop

ONCE again Mach Maethlon’s free cooking workshop proved popular as, on 14 September, chef Jeanette demonstrated the skills of making traditional Scottish oatcakes, with not-so-traditional pumpkin pate, at the Machynlleth Bowling Club’s well-appointed kitchen and clubhouse.

On Sunday, 16 September, ‘Llwyn’, Penegoes, hosted a communal juicing session.

Attendees brought their own apples and were able to taste the fruits of their labour.
