RWF Comrades branch
MACHYNLLETH Royal Welch Fusiliers Comrades branch has arranged an extravaganza on Saturday, 10 November, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
It all kicks off, literally, with a football competition on Cae Glas, entry £2 (children free), involving RN, Army, RAF, Mach, Tywyn and Dolgellau.
This is to remember the 1914 Christmas Truce between 2RWF and the Germans. The copper kettle burger van will be on hand.
At 3pm RWF Comrades will be opening a Memorial Garden in Y Plas.
There will be stands in Y Plas from 1pm and at 7.30pm live band, ‘Built4Comfort’, will play until midnight. A bar and hog roast will be laid on. Entry £10. Any profits will go towards the Memorial Garden and the branch.
On Sunday, 11 November, Remembrance Sunday as normal, with one slight change: branch members will march to the Memorial Garden then back to the town clock and up Maengwyn Street to the bowling club, Colours flying.
Clwb Coginio
ARRANGED by Mach Maethlon and hosted at the bowling club, Clwb Coginio welcomed Pieter van Woerkom to its cooking session on Saturday, 29 September.
To the appreciation of all present, Pieter led the group through the fermenting of courgettes, tomatoes and other vegetables that are available in plenty during September, so they can enjoy them for the long winter months.
Exhibitions at MOMA
A WARM welcome was extended at the opening by Christopher Fuller of the commemorative exhibition, William Condry, naturalist and conservationist 1918-1998, on 29 September.
Curated by Terence Lambert, the exhibition includes works by Kim Atkinson, Terence Lambert, Darren Rees, Philip Snow and Owen Williams.
Also opened were exhibitions by Kevin Blockley, Jacob Buckland and Song of Songs by Edward Wolfe from the Tabernacle Collection.
The exhibitions are now open to the public and can be viewed Monday to Saturday from 10am until 4pm.

DYSLEXIA Drop-in Session at Machynlleth library.

Hear to Help
THE Hear to Help drop-in clinic will take place this Friday, 5 October, at the Care Centre, Forge Road, from 10am to noon. NHS hearing-aid wearers can visit this Action on Hearing Loss Cymru service for friendly help with cleaning their aids, new tubes and free batteries.
The clinic is free and is run by trained volunteers on the first Friday of each month.
Coffee morning
ORGANISED by the Machynlleth and District Committee of North West Cancer Research, there will be a coffee morning in the rugby club on Saturday, 6 October, from 10am until noon.
There will also be a variety of stalls and a raffle.
