Council meeting
MACHYNLLETH Town Council will hold its next monthly meeting at Plas Machynlleth on Monday, 26 November, at 6.30pm.
Formal notice of the meeting will be affixed to the council’s notice boards in front of the town library and the Plas foyer.
The public and press are welcome to attend.
Radio music
LAST Friday’s (9 November) BBC Radio 3 Lunchtime Concert showcased music from summer festivals in the Tabernacle Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) Machynlleth and St Andrew’s Church in Presteigne.
The programme featured Brahms’ String Quartet in G, Op 36 from the Tabernacle and Schubert’s Quartettsatz in C minor, D703, from St Peter’s Church.
Christmas fair
THIS year’s annual Christmas Charity Fair will be held at Plas Machynlleth on Saturday, 24 November, from 10am to 3pm.
There will be a good variety of stalls, raffles and tombolas manned by local and national charities. Entry is free. Refreshments available.
Coffee morning
ST PETER’S Church is holding a coffee morning in the church room on Wednesday, 28 November, from 10.30am.
Tickets cost £2.50, with tea, coffee, mince pies, stalls and raffle. All proceeds towards St Peter’s Church.
Exhibitions at MOMA
EXHIBITIONS currently on view at the Tabernacle Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in Machynlleth include, in the Ruralist Room, the exhibition ‘Edward Wolfe’s Song of Songs’, a set of 12 prints from the Tabernacle Collection.
In the Pulpit Room, Owen Owen Gallery and the Bridge on the first floor is the exhibition ‘William Condry, 1918-1998’.
This exhibition, marking what would have been William’s 100th year, curated by Terence Lambert and includes works by renowned wildlife artists Kim Atkinson, Terence Lambert, Darren Rees, Philip Snow and Owen Williams.
In the Tannery Gallery and Sculpture Space across the Bridge is the exhibition ‘Miscellany in Stone by Kevin Blockley.
The files from Dyfi Valley 2000 are available for inspection in the Green Room when it is not being used for meetings or piano rehearsals. The Taliesin Mosaics are also on show there.
The Mela (Festival) Mosaic, created by Martin Cheek to a design by Balraj Khanna, is in the entrance lobby to the auditorium.
The galleries are open Monday to Saturday (closed Sunday) from 10am until 4pm, and admission is free. Donations welcome.
Dominos league
TWO weeks into the Dyfi Valley Domino League 2018/19 and it’s tight at the top, with only two points covering the leading four teams.
