Bowlers Meet
THERE was an excellent attendance at the annual pre-season meeting of Machynlleth bowlers at the clubhouse on Friday, 12 April.
Captain Thomas Jenkins opened the meeting and called for a minutes’ silence in remembrance of club members who have passed away in the last 12 months.
Thomas and secretary Andrew Fleming gave a detailed overview of the previous season and invited spokespersons of the club’s teams to report on progress in the Montgomeryshire County Leagues, including the men’s divisions’ one and two, ladies’ county and midweek leagues, mixed and veterans.
They, together with all other speakers, congratulated everyone, particularly the influx of new bowlers, who’d made themselves available for the various teams.
Commenting on the excellence of the green, members paid tribute to the captain and his loyal band of helpers for their dedication in providing such an outstanding playing surface.
Competitions co-ordinator Don Lewis reported on a significant increase in those who took part in club competitions. He went on to thank Barry Fleming, Eryl Jones and Mark Rowlands for their help in ensuring the season’s success.
Barry Fleming reported on county matters and Andrew Fleming advised that coaching sessions would start on 26 April.
