Free concert

THIS free open-air concert, taking place outside The Wynnstay Hotel in the middle of the town, gives a taster of the Machynlleth Festival.

From a traditional Welsh harp and folk band with Edryd Williams singing traditional Welsh songs, to the international sounds of the klezmer band, She’Koyokh.

Hear to Help

THE Hear to Help drop-in clinic takes place this Friday, 2 August, from 10am to midday in Y Plas.

NHS hearing-aid wearers can visit this service for help with cleaning their aids, new tubes and free batteries.

The drop-in is run by trained volunteers on the first Friday of every month.

Children’s concert

HOSTED by MOMA Machynlleth, the children’s concert ‘Ben Dant a Cadi’ targets the younger age group (under seven) in the company of pirate Ben Dant (played by local artist Aeron Pughe) and his assistant Cadi; characters from ‘Cyw’.

Participatory singing and storytelling, recollecting the friendly pirate’s adventures on the seven seas!

Bowls

MACHYNLLETH hauled themselves back into championship-chasing pack in the Montgomeryshire County Men’s League Division One, completing a thrilling two-shot victory at leaders Newtown on Thursday, 18 July. They collected five league points to the home team’s two.

However, visitors Llansantffraid got the better of Maglona by 33 shots in Division Two to take home six of the seven league points.

Hosting Llanidloes ladies in the Montgomeryshire County Ladies’ League on 16 July, Machynlleth ladies suffered a disappointing result when they lost by six shots. Llanidloes secured seven points to Machynlleth’s two.

North Wales Pool

MACHYNLLETH Marvels saw their hopes of a top two finish in the North Wales Interleague Division Two receive a severe jolt on Sunday, 14 July, going down at current leaders Oswestry Exservicemen by 28 frames to 12.

The ex-servicemen now head the division by four points from Chester B, with the Marvels in third place.

Machynlleth Môr-ladron, also in Division Two, remained in sixth place after they lost their home encounter 25-15 to South Flintshire A.

Book club

THE Tabernacle-based book club is featuring writer Gail Honeyman’s wellreceived debut novel Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine on Friday, 2 August.

Charity fun day

A KIDS charity fun day takes place at Bryn y Gôg Green on Saturday, 17 August, between 12pm and 4pm.

Activities include face painting, bouncy castles, pottery painting, raffle, burger van – and more!

In aid of April Jones Trust and Cartref Dyfi Resident’s Amenities Fund.

Clay Pigeon Shoot

THE shoot will be held at Cae Parc Gwyn, Pennal on Monday, 26 August starting at 1pm (DTL & Sporting – Fibre Wads).

Refreshments and cash prizes.
