Clwb Maglona
MAGLONA Club meet again at the Bowling Club on 22 September, 2pm. The speaker is Dave Williams of Mountain Rescue. All welcome.
Concert
AN EVENING concert, featuring Parti Camddwr, will be held on Friday, 23 September, 7.30pm in St Michael’s Church, Eglwysfach. Tickets, including a glass of wine, will be available at the door.
Wind Band
THE band was saddened by the tragic loss of their euphonium player, Guto Pugh, a valued and much-liked member who will be greatly missed.
The Wind Band had a really busy summer playing four concerts in the wonderful new bandstand in Aberystwyth where their lively programme was well received by holiday visitors and residents alike.
A fitting finale was a lovely evening playing for a BBQ at Canolfan Pennal.
Rehearsals have now resumed for the Autumn season, polishing old pieces and tackling some new challenges. New members are very welcome.
We are a community band embracing members from a wide area and of all ages.
Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays at 7.30pm at Y Tabernacl. Details can be found on the website or by contacting the musical director Sally Marshall on 01654 781304.
Open Day
GERDDI Bro Ddyfi Gardens are pleased to announce that they will be holding an Autumn Open Day on Saturday, 24 September, from 11am until 3pm.
The volunteers are working hard preparing the group’s Plas grounds based gardens and looking forward to a good attendance on the day.
Golf
ON 1 September, the ladies played the Rabbits and Tigers competition: Sue Fishbourne and Helen Lewis won by one point.
It was pairs again on 8 September for the Relda Owen trophy and Rhian Wynn and Helen Lewis won with a score of 34.
British Legion
AT THE meeting held on Tuesday, 5 July, vice-chairman Stephen Doyle welcomed Peter Kingston, chairman of the North Wales District Committee before.
The minutes of the June meeting were read out and proposed and seconded.
Other business included, amongst other things, all members agreeing to accept Tywyn RBL as a sub branch, a report on the service for the centenary of the Battle of the Somme, name the teddy and the treasurer’s report.
As members left members were reminded that there is no meeting in August.
