Women’s World Day of Prayer
THE Day of Prayer was held this year at St Peters’ Church on Friday, 3 March. The service was prepared by the Christian Women of the Philippines with the theme of, “Am I being unfair to you?”The leader in Welsh was Joyce Price and in English, Beth Bastock, and the organist was Gwenan Jones.Those taking part were: St Peters: Muriel Evans and Jeanne Kerridge; Maengwyn: Mary Price, Ceinwen Lloyd, Glenys Evans, Mair Lynne Davies, Morfydd Hughes and Dorothy Pugh; Catholic Church: Wendy Morgan, Ceri Morgan and Mair Jones; Quakers: Lisa Brown and Liz Butler; Corris: Joanne Gower and Rachel Sear.There was good attendance and the service was much appreciated, as was the tea and cake served afterwards. The collection of £126.90 will go towards the work of WWDP.

Dominoes
PENRHOS are this season’s Dyfi Valley Dominoes League champions follow-ing a highly competitive 18 rounds of fixtures.They overhauled one-time favourites White Horse, who gained the runners-up silverware, with an eight-point winning-score in the final week’s round of matches.Final scores: Penrhos (106 points), White Horse (104), Foresters B (99), Llew Coch (99), Dovey Inn (95), Bowling Club (94), Slaters (93), Wynnstay (88), Foresters A (86).

Spring Clean
FORMER Machynlleth town councillor Jacinta MacDermot is sending a warm welcome to all to meet at the Plas at 10am to join in a Mach’ Spring Clean on Saturday, April 8.
Play
IN the Tabernacle on Saturday, 25 March, Theatre Rue presents Marilyn, a new biographical play based on the life and films of Marilyn Monroe by award-winning writer Gwynne Edwards. The play starts at 7.30pm.Book ClubON Friday, 7 April, 2pm until 3.30pm, the Tabernacle-based Book Club will be considering and discussing Five Children on the Western Front by Kate Saunders. The club meets in the Green Room.
Music Club
THE Music Club welcomes the Busch Trio to the Tabernacle Machynlleth on Friday, 31 March, at 7.30pm. The trio consists of Omri Epstein (pi-ano), Mathieu van Bellen (violin) and Ori Epstein (cello).
