Etifeddiaeth Meeting
AT the Etifeddiaeth meeting in the Tabernacl on Wednesday, 6 December, Dr Emyr Williams gave a fascinating talk on the impact of the Romans on the Dyfi Valley.
It was a most interesting talk which left the group with a new outlook on our valley.
Hear to Help
THE ‘Hear to Help’ drop-in clinic will take place on Friday, 5 January, at the Care Centre, Forge Road, from 10am to midday.
NHS hearing-aid wearers can visit this Action on Hearing Loss Cymru service for friendly help with cleaning their aids, new tubes and free batteries.
The clinic is free and is run by trained volunteers on the first Friday of each month.
Mach Maethlon
MACH Maethlon completed yet another session for budding and experienced cooks and bakers alike when they attended a free session of more tasty recipes given by the Green Goat Café.
The well-received session on Jamaica Street Food was held at the Quarry café on Thursday, 14 December.
Mach Stompers
THE Machynlleth Stompers will perform at the Bowling Club Boxing Day, 7pm.
Planning
ON 7 December, Powys County Council’s planning committee considered and approved an application for the erection of extensions to existing school, new vehicular access and parking, and new multi-surface MUGA pitch at Ysgol Glantwymyn, Cemmaes Road.
Winter Solstice Drum
ON Thursday, 21 December, there will be the opportunity to celebrate the Winter Solstice in the Dinam Room, Canolfan Owain Glyndwr Centre, from 7pm till 9pm.
Attendees are asked to bring a drum or percussion instrument if you have one.
If not, don’t let that stop you since there will be a few spare to use.
There’ll be a charge to cover room rental and festive snacks.
Any ability welcome, No previous experience needed.

Christmas Service
MACHYNLLETH Community Church is pleased to announce that there’ll be a Family Christmas Eve Service on Sunday, 24 December, at 10.30am.
Come and join in a celebration for all ages with carols, readings, special items for children and free refreshments afterwards.
A warm welcome awaits all.
Concert
CAFFI Alys, Canolfan Owain Glyndwr Centre, will host a Cyngerdd ‘Tinc y Tannau’ concert on Friday (22 December).
Celebrating the Winter Solstice, the concert will feature Sioned Jones and Ailsa Mair Hughes.
Food at 6.30pm, followed by music from 8pm.

British Legion Raffle
ON 9 December at the Plas Christmas Fair, the winners of the RBL raffle were: 1st prize, a food hamper - Llinos Griffiths, 2nd prize, bottle of Port - Judy Morris, 3rd prize, toiletries - Sandra Farmery, 4th prize, cakes - Elsbeth Mcauley, 5th prize, biscuits - Ivor Evans, 6th prize, box of mince pies - Tony Jones.
Darts
FORESTERS A, Dwynant and Penrhos all prevailed in week five’s round of fixtures and moved well clear of their Dyfi Valley Darts League rivals on December 8.
