THE latest community news from New Quay
Cross Inn WI
THE Drowning Gap was the subject of Cross Inn WI’s meeting last Monday.
Following a delicious fish and chip supper at The Mariners in New Quay, (thank you Nerys and Simon for opening especially for us on a Monday evening), they gathered in the Lifeboat Station where we heard a very thought provoking account of Ceredigion Lifeboat Campaign’s fight against the decision to replace the present all weather lifeboat with a smaller yet faster in-shore boat.
Richard Taylor and the lifeboat operation manager, Roger Couch, told of the many letters and e-mails that had been sent to and received from the RNLI, but they said all to no avail as the decision is seemingly irreversible.
However the campaign will continue and their message is “we need your help” and we were invited to add our names to the list of helpers and supporters.
They will not go quietly.
