THE latest community news from New Quay

School

THE school council organised a 999 emergency day as part of the summer fête.

They decided to raise money for Wales Air Ambulance because one of the pupils had to use the air ambulance over Christmas.

All of the children came to school dressed as someone from the emergency services.

During the morning representatives from the RNLI, lifeguards, coastguard, fire brigade and police came together to show the children their vehicles and discuss how they help people.

The pupils were also lucky to have a representative from Wales Air Ambulance bring a mock helicopter to the event for the children to see.

A total of £200 was raised for the charity.

Heritage centre

THE centre, located under the harbourmaster’s office, has been open at weekends since Easter and is manned by volunteers and sponsored by New Quay Town Council.

The centre is supported by Ceredigion Museum and contains a wealth of local artefacts.

The aim is to open the doors daily during August from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

The number of volunteers has diminished and new helpers are needed in order to open the centre on a daily basis.

Sitting in the heritage centre is a good way of learning about the history of the village and meeting people who are part of the history.

Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Cllr Jennifer Davies on 01545 560037.
