THE latest community news from New Quay
Remembrance service
The Remembrance service held in the memorial hall was standing room only, such was the support from the local community, so much so that the collection for the Poppy Appeal was virtually doubled at £689.08.
Cllr Dan Potter was in attendance, together with other local organisations, who laid wreaths.
Second New Quay and Llanarth Scouts, displayed four trays of poppies they had made on green stems, with each leaf on each poppy displaying the name of one who had given their life in the First and Second World Wars.
They also laid a wreath, as did others namely the Fire Brigade, Coastguards, RNLI, Brownies, Guides, town council and New Quay branch.
The service was conducted by Dr Rev Matthew Baynham, ably assisted by Richard Iwanek. Major Jim Evans read out the names of the fallen in the two world wars, delivered the exhortation in both English and Welsh, and also the Kohima epitaph.
