Walkers

SATURDAY, 9 December, was a dry and sunny day sandwiched between days of heavy rain and the arrival of snow and ice.

This worked out well for the New Quay Walkers who completed their six-mile walk in the Cwmtydu and Llangrannog area.

Twenty walkers and five dogs met at Cwmtydu and led by Viv Evans, headed off on the coast path southwards towards Llangrannog.

This is a pleasant stretch as once the initial elevated climb has been done the coast path drops gradually to the south.

The group enjoyed fabulous views of a choppy sea, Ynys Lochtyn, the bay beyond Aberporth and the clear outline of Cardigan Island.

Lunch was taken some distance before reaching the Urdd complex and the route then followed field tracks inland before accessing some quiet lanes to return to Cwmtydu.

The day was rounded off with a good welcome and refreshments around the log burner at the Penrhiwllan Inn in New Quay.

The next walk, led by Julie and Berwyn Thomas, takes place on Saturday, 13 January, meeting at 10.30am outside Llandisilio Church, near Cwmtydu.
