THE latest community news from Newcastle Emlyn
U3A
THE March meeting was a change to the schedule as Jeff Kedwood could not make it, so member Tony Poole, gave a fascinating talk on his property in Naxos, Greece which he bought as almost a ruin 25 years ago.
They go out there quite frequently and have integrated into the local community, helping with the grape and olive harvests when they are there.
Next month’s meeting is on Wednesday, 3 April, when Jeff Kedwood, the local community policeman will be talking about his job in the community.
The new Bucket List group has now chosen its first few activities. They will hopefully be organising a trip to the Zip Wire in north Wales for the early summer and will be having a try at archery and pottery making.
The group members have all given in their ideas of activities they would like to try and we will work through them gradually.
Monthly meetings usually take place on the first Wednesday of the month at 10.30am for 11am at the Community Hall, Church Lane, and usually finish about 12.15pm.
The U3A is for retired and semiretired people who want to live, laugh and learn together. Various groups meet during the month including astronomy, strolling, craft, French, games, wine appreciation and luncheon club.
The subscription for 2018-19 is £14 but the first meeting is free. For more information about the group look on their website www. u3asites.org/newcastle-emlyn or contact the chairman, Jim Sibley on 01239 613752.
