U3A
IN June, Newcastle Emlyn U3A had a visit from Melinda Jarratt who was a member of the murder squad and gave a fascinating talk about murder inquiries and how they are dealt with.
A difficult subject which Melinda managed to make extremely interesting and she also managed to bring some humour into it as well.
The meeting on Wednesday, 3 July is the AGM starting at 11am with coffee from 10.30am.
The meeting will be followed by a fun quiz and will be held in the Community Hall, Church Lane.
As this is the start of the financial year, membership fees of £14 per person will be due on that day.
Newcastle Emlyn U3A started yet another new interest group in June when 13 members met at Newcastle Emlyn Bowls Club for the start of an Outdoor Green Bowls group. Great fun was had learning how to use the bias on the bowls. Thanks go to the bowls club for the use of their facilities.
Newcastle Emlyn U3A now has 24 interest groups which meet during the month as well as their monthly meeting.
Membership is growing and they now have over 100 members.
This coming year is their 25th anniversary year so great things are being planned to celebrate.
Monthly meetings usually take place on the first Wednesday of the month at 10.30am for 11am at the Community Hall, Church Lane, and usually finish about 12.15am.
The U3A is for retired and semiretired people who want to live, laugh and learn together. Various groups meet during the month including astronomy, strolling, craft, French, games, wine appreciation and luncheon club. The subscription for 2019-20 is £14 but the first meeting is free.
