Traders’ Group
NEWCASTLE Emlyn Traders’ Group, in association with Clwb Hen Geir Glannau Teifi, is arranging a Vintage Day on Saturday, 22 April, with a display of vintage cars, tractors and motorbikes.Held at the mart car park in the town, there will be free parking during the day.By arranging days like these, members of the Trader’s Group hope that people will come to Newcastle Emlyn to do their shopping, as Barry Adams, one of the members, explains: “Events like these put the town on the map. We are always competing with Carmarthen and internet sales, and we’d like to get as many people as we can into the town.“By working in partnership with Clwb Hen Geir Glannau Teifi, we might also attract new members to the club.”Jill Sutton from Fair and Fabulous and a Newcastle Emlyn Traders’ Group member added: “It’s vitally important that we are continu-ously putting on activities to attract people to the town and to have a thriving high street. We need to get its profile up to create economic activity in this small Welsh town.”In addition to street stalls and entertainment, there will be a vintage window competition, and a grand raffle is being organised with a chance to win vouchers to shop in town. There is also the opportunity for one lucky lady to win a complete makeover, sponsored by ladies fashion retailer Ededa J and Talking Heads Hair and Beauty Salon (proceeds of which will go to West Wales Air Ambulance). The raffle will be drawn at the Emlyn Hotel during an afternoon tea party.
