THE latest community news from Pennal
Shop-Less
THE only shop in Pennal village was closed three weeks ago, leaving locals to travel into Machynlleth for their newspapers and various groceries etc.
It is certainly proving the old adage to be true that “you never know what you are missing until it’s gone”.
Villagers can no longer just nip to the shop for those odd bits and pieces.
It also, of course, means that one more rural facility is lost to time and progress, but thus it has ever been.
Pennal wishes shop owners, John and Carol Bodza, a long and happy retirement.
Villagers thank them for their 29 years of service.
Remembrance Sunday
PENNAL residents will come together to remember their war dead on Sunday, 12 November.
There will be a short remembrance service in the Church at 10am followed by assembly at the War Memorial at 10.45am.
At the Memorial, prayers will be said and wreaths laid as the Roll of Honour is read.
This short gathering will include the usual two minutes silence.
