Neuadd Goffa
AT the recent quarterly committee meeting of the Neuadd Goffa Committee, the chair, Kevin Goodwin, thanked members for their attendance and the amount of voluntary work contributed to the successful running of the hall for the benefit of residents of all ages.
The most pressing concern was expressed by the secretary of the lack of volunteers resulting in the cessation of vital clubs and societies catering for our residents throughout the whole county as has happened to the Penparcau Senior Citizens fortnightly club which had been held regularly in the neuadd goffa for past decades.
These social clubs make such a difference to the happiness of their members in helping with such as loneliness by their leaving their homes to attend and meet with others. The expectations of the members is not high. It is the companionship with fun and laughter that makes the effort of attending worth while as with the satisfaction of those organising to see the results of their efforts.
The ever-increasing retirement age does make it difficult for some to volunteer to help in running these clubs and societies but there are also many taking early retirement who may well be able to spare a few hours to act as chair or secretary which would not only benefit the members but themselves by contributing to the good of the happiness of others.
If you can spare time to restart the Senior Citizens (open to all retirees) contact the secretary on [email protected]

WI
IN March, members were invited to join Capel Seion WI for a St David’s Day meal which was enjoyed by all.
The March meeting was named ‘am I 100% compostable?’. It gave members a clue as to what will be coming from Ceredigion recyclables soon.
Mererid Jones of Ceredigion County Council environmental issues, spoke about black and clear bags etc and during her presentation they were amazed at just what happens to recyclables at the end of their life, which is distributed and made use of in so many different ways; an excellent informative evening.
