Camera club
WHEN a person whose interest and work is in the biological sciences arrives to give a presentation in a club perhaps one of the last things one would expect to be entertained with is gritty pictures of street architecture. But this was the case when Rolf Kraehenbuehl, who is a researcher at Bangor university, arrived to show images of Paris to a disappointingly sparse audience. The members were entertained with some truly excellent mainly monochrome images taken in all weathers, day and night, of some of the most interesting buildings both old and new, interspersed with candid portraits of the population. These were not just images of buildings, they were far more than that and demonstrated how a seeing eye can observe and record that which the casual observer will miss. The icing on the cake was a spectacular series of pictures in colour, of fireworks to commemorate Bastille Day.
All in all a very enjoyable and memorable evening.
