Local artists, local scenes

The proceeds of the sale will go towards the Glasfryn project – the conversion of a property into a store for MOMA Machynlleth’s ever growing Tabernacle Collection.
The works are available for viewing and sale at Y Talbot.

The next walk is scheduled for Saturday, 11 August and has been organised by Jac, Dewi and Lynda. It’s the Sabrina trail – Pumlumon Fawr via Hafren.
This trail is sponsored by Gwesty Hafod Hotel and Woodlands Caravan and Camping Park, both in Devil’s Bridge.
Did you know that the original name of this river was Sabrina? Named after a Roman goddess the river today has three true names.
This walk starts in the Rhydybenwch forestry plantation and follows the course of the River Severn back to its source high up on the slopes of Pumlumon Arwystli.
From here they head to the summit of Pumlumon Fawr, passing the source of the river Wye.
Benjamin Malkin stated in 1803 that Pumlumon was the most dangerous mountain in Wales on account of the boggy terrain underfoot.
He said that it should only be attempted in the company of a local guide who live in a hovel at the foot of the mountain.
The walk is to last approximately seven hours and is graded a very strenuous walk which covers 13 miles with an ascent of 666m/2,188ft.
Meet outside Y Talbot at 8.30am and return to Hafod Hotel, Devil’s Bridge afterwards for a glass of Pimmslumon. Contribution to Pimms appreciated. Bar meal option available.
To reserve your place phone Dafydd on 07748 675 798, (maximum 25).
