THE July meeting was really entertaining.

Lona Mason from the National Library of Wales spoke about the Sir Kyffin Williams exhibition, Behind the Frame, which was being held there over the course of the summer to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his birth.

She showed pictures of his paintings, preparatory drawings and his sketch books, many of which had been bequeathed to the library after his death.

The evening inspired many to visit the exhibition.

Over the course of the summer an Elephant Hunt was held at the home of president Monica Rose, which had been arranged to support the WI’s Denman College in Oxfordshire, and to a sizable donation was sent to them.

At the end of August, they visited Tenby and Caldey Island on a beautifully sunny day.

Although the sea was relatively calm, one member managed to get a soaking from a huge wave, however, that didn’t detract from the tranquillity and peace of the island.

ON Tuesday, 14 August, the strawberry tea in Y Talbot was opened by Cllr David Bennett.

Everyone enjoyed the scones made by Rhyswen, and the fresh strawberries and cream.

The lucky dip and cake stall were soon sold out and the bonus ball sheet was well supported.
