Women’s Institute

AT the annual general meeting held in November, Karine Davies was elected president and Gay Evans secretary of the institute.

The meeting was taken by Carol Lovell, a Women’s Institute advisor, who talked about the time she spent at a WI in England when they were asked to try to form an institute in a local women’s prison, a rather daunting task but ultimately very rewarding.

The December meeting was a handson event when Jane Samuels demonstrated making a Christmas table decoration.

Over 20 were produced and provided a very festive backdrop to mince pies and carols at the end of the evening.

The next meeting will be held in the memorial hall on Wednesday, 8 January starting at 7.30pm.

Gary Evans will speak about the time he and others were in charge of the Queen Mother’s funeral carriage.
