AN excellent Christmas lunch was enjoyed by 46 members on Wednesday, 14 December, at the Bowls Club.Sion Corn came and gave everyone a gift. There were 21 raffle prizes.The afternoon ended with the singing of five carols in Welsh and English followed by Calon Lân.Next month’s lunch on 25 January will be in the Bowls Club and the entertainment will be bingo.Please book with Delyth by calling her on 01974 298593.

THERE will be a Christmas Eve carol service on Saturday, 24 December, in the Pantyfedwen Hall, Pontrhydfendigaid, at 7pm, led by Rev Roger Hides. A warm welcome to everyone.

THE next walk is scheduled for 26 December and is called Tackle the Turkey Trek.This is one of the club’s annual walks that brings people of all ages together for a festive footpath foray during the Christmas period. It was the club’s first walk back in 2003 that attracted 90 walkers.Make the most of an opportunity to meet new and old friends whilst taking in the great views the walk affords. The club’s faithful toy turkey, Terwyn, will join them. He was the last turkey to be sold by Woolworths in December 2008.The walk is a grade B moderate walk which should last approximately three hours over a distance of five miles with an ascent of 380m.

The leader is Dafydd Wyn Morgan (01974 298150). The meeting place is outside the Talbot at 10.30am. If you would like to become a member of the club then ring Dafydd, the secretary, on the number above.
