THE latest community news from Tregaron
WI
In November, Tregaron WI held its Annual General Meeting. Liz Tipping, who had recently qualified as a WI adviser, presided and warmly welcomed all those who attended.
Julien Dixon gave the annual report of the Institute. Monica Rose, who was re-elected as president, thanked members and the executive committee for their support over the year.
She said that the WI was a vibrant member of the Tregaron and Ceredigion WI communities.
Several members were in the WI Choir, the Co-operative team represented the Ceredigion Federation at the Royal Welsh Show and others made welsh cakes for sale at Ffair Caron. In all it had been a busy and enjoyable year.
Ian Tillotson then kept them entertained with stories of his visit to Australia and his encounter with an emu!
The next meeting will be a ‘Pudding Party’ in the Memorial Hall on Wednesday, 13 December at 7.30pm.
Visitors are warmly welcomed. For further information call Monica Rose on 01974 298165.
Show
Following the announcement of the new Quarantine Unit legislation earlier this year, the show committee had discussed at length the future of the show and its current place in the show calendar.
It has therefore been proposed that Tregaron Agricultural Show will move to Saturday, 15 September.
It is also hoped that it will allow more people to be able to attend.
English Methodist Chruch
The service on Sunday, 17 December will be held in the Pantyfedwen hall, Pontrhydfendigaid, led by Lavina Porter and beginning at 2.30pm.
A warm welcome to everyone on the third Sunday in Advent.
Clwb Cerdded
This is one of the club’s annual walks that brings people of all ages together for a festive footpath foray during the Christmas period.
This was the club’s first walk back in 2003 that attracted 90 walkers on that cold day.
Make the most of the opportunity to meet new and old friends whilst taking in the great views the walk affords.
Their faithful toy turkey Terwyn will join them too, the last turkey to be sold by Woolworths in December 2008.
A warm welcome awaits you on your return to Y Talbot. The walk starts from outside Y Talbot at 10.30am and is to last approximately three hours and is graded a moderate walk with an ascent of 1,240ft/380m and is organised by Dafydd Wyn Morgan, 01974 298150. Should you wish to become a member of Clwb Cerdded Tregaron Walking Club then please give secretary Dafydd a call on 01974 298150.
