THE next walk is scheduled for 11 February and has been organised by Avarinah, Lucy and Dafydd 07748 675798.

The George Borrow Trail – Pumlumon Fawr from Dyffryn Castell: This trail is sponsored by The George Borrow Hotel, Ponterwyd, 01970 890230.

In 1854 the travelogue George Borrow visited Pumlumon Fawr.

Indeed he wrote in his book Wild Wales, “I question … whether there is a higher hill in the world!”

Today, we walk on exactly the same route as George took all those years ago.

The first section of the walk is rather steep then joins the Sir Chris Bonington trail that comes up from Eisteddfa Gurig.

After leaving the forest plantation on your left, you’ll see Pumlumon Fawr waiting for you in the distance.

2468ft is the height.

The walk starts from outside Y Talbot at 9am and returns to George Borrow Hotel afterwards for drinks and free cawl.

The walk is to last approximately five hours and is graded a moderate walk which covers seven miles with an ascent of 1741ft/530m.

To reserve your place please phone Dafydd on 07748 675798.

Should you wish to become a member of Clwb Cerdded Tregaron Walking Club then please feel free to give Dafydd the secretary a ring on 01974 298150.
