THE latest community news from Tywyn

Inner Wheel Club

THE members of the Inner Wheel Club of Tywyn have had a busy few months lately.

In the July meeting, members enjoyed a delicious meal in the King’s restaurant at the Talyllyn Railway.

The recently re-elected president, Mair Worsey, who has taken the chair for another year, sent their best wishes to three members, Barbara Williamson, Connie Rowley and Wyn Bottrill, who have all had bad falls and sad news recently.

In June members held a very successful strawberry tea in Llys Meurig the Abbeyfield Home when over £550 was raised.

The proceeds were evenly shared with the Abbeyfield committee.

Many thanks for allowing the use of the facilities.

Many thanks also to the local Spar Shop and the Co-op for donating some strawberries and cream for the event.

It was voted that they send £350 of the money raised for president Mair’s charity, namely Medicins Sans Frontiere, which is a very worthy overseas charity.

A few weeks ago several members joined by Rotarians visited the Meirioneth Special Riding for the Disabled Group in Arthog, when a presentation was made. Members donated a cheque for £220 and also presented a trophy for the most improved adult rider of the year.

The trophy will be given annually and is in memory of one of their past members, the late Di Derry, who was a great enthusiastic volunteer of the riding group.

The next fundraising event is Race the Train, when members will prepare and supply all the catering, and support Tywyn Rotary Club when they organise the very special annual event which takes place on Saturday, 18 August.

The members of the Inner Wheel Club would be pleased to hear from and appreciate anyone who could help them for a short time on the day enabling them to raise funds and donate to their charities locally, nationally and overseas.
