Rotary Club
THIS year The Rotary Club of Tywyn celebrated the 35th anniversary of the granting of the club charter by holding a formal dinner at which the achievements of the club during the previous year are remembered and celebrated.
The club president Nancy Clarke organised the celebration at the Ty’n y Cornel Hotel on Thursday, 21 March, where 41 Rotarians and guests enjoyed an excellent meal in a lovely hotel overlooking Tal-y-Llyn lake.
Nancy welcomed members and guests, and thanked everyone who had helped the club achieve another very successful year of service to the community.
The District Governor Steve Martin was then invited to give an address in which he stressed that the Rotary Club could not stand still and must adapt to reflect the changing needs and aspirations of both members and of those that the club wishes to help, in order that this excellent international organization can develop and grow in future.
After dinner the guests were treated to an amusing talk by Rotarian Chris Knight, entitled ‘My Olympic dream’ describing his involvement and experiences as a member of the huge supporting cast for the opening ceremony of the London Olympics in 2012.
