THE members were given a talk by monthly guest speaker, Rhydian Mason, who gave an interesting and informative speech regarding the railways in our area.

Mr Mason is the Rail Development Officer for the Cambrian Rail Partnership.

His talk was regarding the coastal line specifically ,which affects our members, Rhydian assured us that there are no plans to implement the one person trains and to get rid of Guards, during the present franchise, which were the main concern of our members. He explained that this procedure would be totally uneconomical to the company.

He also assured us that, to his knowledge, there are no plans by the Welsh Government, to discontinue the free travel for pensioners on the Cambrian Coast line,

After a lengthy, but very interesting talk, he took questions from members which were many and varied, ranging a myriad of topics and due to the intense interest in the debate, the chairman decided to move standing orders to allow time for the debate to continue.

The chairman thanked Rhydian for his attendance which was greatly appreciated and he agreed to attend a future meeting to give us an update.
