Royal Welch Fusiliers

PRESIDING major Ifan Price-Edwards and Cpl Gwyn Roberts.A minute silence was held for the late William Simkiss RN from Tywyn and Trevor Humphreys RWF from Cwmllinau, both World War Two Burma veterans, and The Kohima Epitaph was read.

Thanks were given to those who participated at the late William Evans Simkiss’s funeral at St Cadfan’s Church, Tywyn. On parade were: Standard bearers, R Naval Assoc - Ian Slater, Burma Star Assoc; Howard Wynn Davies, RBL Tywyn - Maj David Morkill, RWF - Rob the Gog.Points were read out from the Welsh RWFCA secretaries’ meeting in Wrexham. Notice was given for an official dedication of the Royal Welsh regiments refurbished memorial at the national Arboretum (this being to RWF, SWB, Welsh & R Mons Regt) Staffordshire on 9 September.

Other future events were discussed, particularly St David’s day luncheon in Machynlleth golf club, with over 40 people now attending. C Sgt Ray Jones, 19 having been invited as guest speaker for 60 people, having been chosen to perform the traditional ceremony of eating The Leek.Branch uniform, identity cards, welfare and finance were discussed (the accounts having been audited).

The next meeting on 2 March will be the AGM.

Healthcare Collaborative

THE Mid Wales Healthcare Collaborative Board will host a meeting on Friday, 24 March, at 2pm at Neuadd Pendre. The public meeting will offer people the chance to discuss healthcare provision in the area with members of the collaborative board.
