The Inner Wheel Club
THE Inner Wheel Club of Tywyn met at the Gold Club, Aberdyfi, for the monthly meeting.
The new president, Mair Worsey welcomed the members to the first meeting following the help the ladies gave to the local Rotary Club providing the catering for all the runners and supporters in the Race the Train event held in August.
The Inner Wheel members would like to thank all family members and friends who helped in any way to make Race the Train day a very successful one.
It was decided in the meeting, owing to all the help and hard work that was given, that the club can now donate to the following organisations: Air Ambulance Wales – Tywyn Branch - £200; North West Wales Cancer Research - £100; NSPCC – Local Branch - £100; Shelter Box for the Caribbean appeal fund c/o Tywyn Rotary Club - £200; Neuadd Pendre, Tywyn - £50.
More donations from the club will be made following our next meeting.
Bowling Club
THE Tywyn Bowling Club have had a very successful season.
The Tywyn ‘A’ team, the club’s first team won both the Singles and Doubles competitions in the Merioneth League having won most of their matches throughout the season.
The Ravens, the local second team came in fourth in both leagues just missing out narrowly for third place.
In the past few weeks the members including several new bowler’s have completed playing in the club’s Knockout Finals.
In spite of the unsettled weather all the matches were closely contended and completed.
The successful winners of the finals were: Ladies Singles Winner – Sue Marsh; Mens Singles Winner – David O’Hara; Open Singles Winner – Alex Furneaux; Veterans Singles Winner – Elwyn Price; Open Handicap – Dave Clark; Rose Bowl – Dave Clark; Ladies Doubles – Jose Price and Lucy Locket; Mens Doubles – Peter Collins and Dave Clark; Mixed Doubles – Elwyn Price and Lucy Locket; Veterans Doubles – David O’Hara and Roger Starling; Ladies Club League Winner – Jose Price; Ladies Club League Runner Up – Keren O’Hara; Triples Winners – Trevor Cooper, Dave O’Hara and Peter Collins.
Older People’s Forum
THE next meeting of the above forum will take place at the Neuadd Pendre, Brook Street, on Wednesday, 27 September, at 2 30pm, with a number of interesting topics on the agenda.
It is hoped to have some feedback from Tywyn and Gwynedd Councils regarding a petition to retain the public toilets in the area.
The guest speaker this month will be Gwenda Hughes of the Royal Voluntary Service, who will be explaining the ‘Tech Angels’ campaign, which assists older residents with computer problems.
Gwenda will also be explaining the general functions RVS and this will be followed by a question and answer session.
