Inner Wheel

THE February meeting of Tywyn Inner Wheel Club was chaired by president Mair Worsey in the golf club, Aberdyfi.

Mair reported on the successful skittles evening which was organised by Maureen Cartwright and saw the club joined by friends from Tywyn Rotary Club.

An impressive £220 was raised which is to donated to the Meirionnydd Special Riding Group for the Disabled in Arthog in memory of our late member, Dianna Derry, who was an enthusiastic supporter.

A special trophy is also being given to the group to be presented to the outstanding rider member of the year.

Club members also voted to donate £50 to the Association President’s annual charity, Children’s Hospices.

The guest speaker for the evening was Mary Page, who entertained us with a very enthusiastic talk on birds.

Mary has been rescuing and caring for all sorts of birds for over 20 years in Tywyn.

Her special rescued bird the ‘Blue Eyed Jackdaw’ who she has looked after for two years and named Mr Wizard.

Merlyn who now has freedom but her feathered friend still returns and accompanies her on her dog walking trips in the area.

Her speakers donation of £50 was given to another bird, namely the air ambulance.

The vote of thanks was given by Shirley Bray.
