THE Tywyn and Aberdyfi branch of the British Heart Foundation Wales would like to express their very grateful thanks to everyone who came along to support their coffee morning on 17 February at the Baptist Church, Tywyn, and also to those who, despite being unable to attend, sent donations to help ‘Fight for Every Heartbeat’. The wonderful generosity shown by all of the branch’s supporters enabled them to raise an amazing £446.74, surpassing last year’s total by more than £100.The proceeds will be forwarded to the national BHF charity to help provide funding both for nursing care for patients with heart disease and for vital medical research into the causes, prevention and treatment of heart disease. Thanks were also given to committee members Alison Williams, Barbara Jones, Beryl Jones, Beryl Goodchild, Iris Maher and Jackie Roberts for manning the stalls and for providing gift items, and to the chairperson, Eileen Jones, for organising the event. A very special thank you was also given to Myra Dodds for looking after members with lots of tea and coffee.
The branch is reminding all those who are interested that the annual BHF golf tournament, generously hosted by Aberdyfi Golf Club, will take place on Saturday, 8 April.
The AGM will be held on Wednesday, 26 April. Non-members or anyone wishing to either become a member of the committee or to help in any way with local fundraising activities are all welcome to attend, and should telephone Alan Jones on 07999 305680 beforehand for details of the venue.
The branch will also be holding a craft fair in Bryncrug on Saturday, 27 May (10am to 4pm), and a bingo evening (7pm for 7.30pm start) on Monday, 29 May, in Neuadd Pendre, Tywyn.
