The MONTHLY meeting took place on Monday, 6 November, in the community hall on the Waun, and was the annual general meeting.

President Jean Eklund welcomed members and extended a particularly warm one to county WI adviser Bethan Williams. In her report Jean paid tribute to all the members who had worked to make the last year such a successful one. She brought members up to date concerning Jo Davies, a long-standing member who had left the area earlier in the year and she welcomed the new members.

Reports from the secretary and treasurer spoke of the institute’s active year and stable finances. Bethan oversaw the election of officers and the meeting was brought to a conclusion with Bethan’s report of her visit to Romania earlier in the year when she attended the meeting of the ACWW. Many WI members as individuals and institutes support this organisation, the Associated Country Women of the World, and it was interesting to hear from Bethan about the work being undertaken worldwide and to gain an insight into the culture of Romania.

The next meeting is on Monday, 4 December at 7pm when members will be sharing their ideas for festive decorations.
