THE final meeting of the Waunfawr WI for 2017 took place on Monday, 4 December in the Community Hall on the Waun, and saw president, Jean Eklund, receiving apologies from five members but still warmly welcoming 16 to the meeting.

A very pleasurable meeting saw members sharing light refreshments and mulled wine at the end of the WI year; while two members, Pip Chisholm and Liz Phipps brought their skills and expertise to the meeting.

Liz showed members how to create paper carnations, while Pip demonstrated the making of decorative boxes.

What followed was a wonderful opportunity for members to share skills and expertise, and Pip and Liz’s generosity meant that all present were able to take home some lovely items to mark the festive season.

Following an earlier informal meeting, plans are now well in hand for the coming year and all members will have a varied programme to look forward to next year.

The next meeting will be in January and members will be celebrating the New Year by sharing a meal together.
