A DOLGELLAU resident is concerned that buses parked at a bus stop near the town’s depot will soon lead to emergency services being unable to leave their stations.
Timothy James Coulson has noticed that some buses use a stop as a place to park up, and he believes this is going to cause problems for emergency services in the town.
He told the Cambrian News about his concerns and how the issue has been going on for some time.
Tim said: “There’s a stop on the left hand side. Bus drivers don’t use it as a stop, they use it as somewhere to park up.
“When another bus is at the junction at the depot, they bring traffic to a standstill from all directions.”
He continued: “This is the access road to the emergency services. The ambulance and fire stations are along there. If a bus stops traffic then the fire fighters and paramedics aren’t able to get out.
“In the photo, you can see the bus that is at the stop. This was parked up.
“The buses on the side are left unattended and are causing a problem.”
Cllr Linda Morgan, who is a Gwynedd councillor for Dolgellau, said: “This is a great worry. I didn’t agree with the interchange being moved from Eldon Square to by the bus depot. Anything that impacts that many people should have been opened to public consultation first and the views of local businesses and schools should have been listened to.
“I think this has been put onto the bus companies. It’s not their fault and they do a great job.
“Not all the buses go back to Eldon Square which is a problem, they should as this takes people into the middle of the town. We want people to be able to visit the town by bus and taken into the centre of town.”
Lloyd’s Coaches has been asked to comment.
