Double yellow lines put in place on Aberystwyth’s North Road and Vaynor Street were correct, despite a council order suggesting parking restrictions should only be in place between 9am and 6pm.
There was confusion amongst local residents when double yellow lines, prohibiting parking at any time, were painted on the section of North Road and Vaynor Street, as a council advertisement and consultation into the order had said it would be single yellow lines and allow parking overnight after 6pm and before 9am.
However, the council’s Cabinet heard that there had been a “mapping error” which meant that the actual 24-hour prohibition wasn’t advertised.
The council has now agreed to amend the advertisement to provide the correct information.
A report said: “A mapping error has come to light, involving a location on North Road and a section of Vaynor Street.
“The mapping error indicated that waiting was only prohibited between 9am and 6pm, in fact, the correct proposal was for waiting to be prohibited at any time.
“First stage consultation on correcting this error has been completed and no objections have been received.
“Authorisation is therefore being sought to advertise an amendment of this error to the public, and should no objections be received, incorporation of the amendment into the second Traffic Regulation Order.
“However, if any objection is received during the public consultation, this will be reported back to Cabinet, along with the other changes proposed to the second.”
