COUNCIL chiefs say they replaced hedges and fences opposed by some Llanbadarn Fawr residents after complaints were made by locals.
Joanne Morgan, of Quebec Road, complained in the Cambrian News earlier this month about work carried out on the border between the back of properties at Quebec Road and Canolfan Padarn.
She said fences and hedges had been torn out along with shrubs and flowers and waste items, including asbestos panels was dumped in her garden.
But the council has insisted the work was planned after an approach by residents struggling to maintain the hedge.
The council also said that there would be work to landscape the area after Ms Morgan criticised the appearance of a wire mesh fence.
A council spokesperson said: “The council was approached by some of the residents of Quebec Road due to these residents having difficulty in maintaining the existing hedge between their properties and Canolfan Padarn.
“It was decided that the best course of action would be to replace the existing hedge/fence which would also ensure the safety of the users of Canolfan Padarn.
“It will be our intention to soft landscape the area of land in front of the fence to improve the boundary landscape when resources are available.”
