Madam,

In recent letters, Ian MacIntyre warned against elected politicians using their offices in support of ideas which had not been the subject of either their manifestos or of electoral debate in the ward or constituency in which they stood.

I remember the days when councillors were expected to voice opinions on the various matters that cropped up, especially on things that directly affected their electorate.

How things have changed!

I don’t think that Cllrs Louise Hughes and Owain Williams can be accused of restricting their public comments to soft, positive news stories and staged photo ops while having nothing to say on all the rest of the stuff that needs to be addressed.

Good for them.

Yours etc,

Jason Humphreys, Heol Newydd, Porthmadog.
