A CARDIGAN couple are calling ‘foul’ over a set of goalposts they say represent an eyesore outside their home.

Max Rees, of Park Avenue, and his wife claim repeated requests to Cardigan Town Football Club to move the posts have been ignored.

The posts, situated on the King George V Playing Field, are on rollers and are moved to the side of the pitch between games, town councillors were told.

In their letter to the council, Mr and Mrs Rees said the metal frame was an eyesore.

“We do not understand why it cannot be left on the pitch,” they said.

“This is an area where residents take great pride in their homes.

“We hope as a council you will be sympathetic to our plight.”

Cllr Mark Cole said he understood that, following a fatality in Caersws, the posts had to be moved off the pitch between games due to health and safety reasons.

He added that the issue was due to be discussed at next month’s meeting of the King George V Playing Field committee.
