A couple from Llanfarian have turned the outside of their house in to an illuminated winter wonderland to raise money for two worthy causes.
Mike Edwards and Angela Owen have put up a range of moving, festive-themed, handmade illuminations outside their house, including a nativity scene, Father Christmas, penguins, polar bears and ‘Elfis’ and his band.
Mike and Angela, from Cwm Glas, Llanfarian are, raising money for the village school and Cylch Meithrin.
On Friday, 30 November, the lights were officially switched on in front of friends, family and invited guests. Sgarmes provided the entertainment singing carols and Christmas songs, and Father Christmas was on hand to deliver some early presents.
“Sgarmes singing beautiful carols joined us at this year’s party and we thank them for coming and making the night extra festive,” Mike and Angela said.
The tradition to decorate the outside of their home started seven years ago when Mike made a mechanical Father Christmas out of scrap materials which moved along their fence.
Two years later, Mike’s inventions progressed further, and started becoming more of an event, with family and friends invited to an official switch-on party, with food and drinks, including Angela’s homemade mince pies.
Friends and family say this year’s display is the best yet.
Cwm Glas can be found on the A485 Llanilar road just after the junction with the A487.
