A 21-YEAR-OLD Cilgerran man has been banned from driving for 18 months after pleading guilty to drink-driving.
Thomas Adam Rees, of Grey House, Cilgerran, appeared before Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
The court heard that Rees was pulled over by police just after midnight on 8 October in Newcastle Emlyn after police spotted him driving his Volkswagen Polo “erratically”, with the car “veering over the central lines”.
When stopped by police, officers reported that he smelled of alcohol and was “slurring”.
Breath tests revealed that Rees was twice the legal drink-drive limit.
Stephen Welch, defending, said that Rees had gone out that night in Newcastle Emlyn and “had a couple of drinks”.
“He made the foolish decision to drive home,” Mr Welch told the court.
Magistrates disqualified Rees from driving for 18 months. He was also fined £150 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £85.
